Scoring System

Overall Scoring

Getaway Games scoring is simple. You get a "Getaway Games Ranking" in each of the 5 events. The total of those five rankings is your total "Getaway Games Ranking". The lowest total "Getaway Games Ranking" at the end of the entire event is the winner. We've developed a scoring grid to assign the "Getaway Games Ranking" based on your rank in a sport and the number of teams at the event. This allows teams to compare themselves to others across the nation. Every event gets rankings based on a 36 team event. So if you get 1st place in golf scramble in a 17 team event - your team will get a 2.12 "Getaway Games Ranking". If you get a 1st place in golf scramble in a 36 team event - your team will get a 1.00 "Getaway Games Ranking". Below is the grid that defines your Getaway Games Ranking based on your rank in a sport and the total teams in an event:

Event Scoring

Bowling: All 4 players bowl 2 games. The total of the 8 scores is added to make your team score. Highest team score gets the #1 Getaway Games Ranking. Ties are broken by taking the teams best score from one game.

Basketball Sure Shot: All 4 players shoot the Sure Shot course 2 times for 1 minute each time. The total of the 8 scores is added to make your team score. Highest team score gets the #1 Getaway Games Ranking. Ties are broken by taking the teams best score from one round.

Softball Home-Run Derby: All 4 players hit in the homerun derby for 2 rounds of 1 minute each. There are 5 teirs of homeruns worth 1-5 points. The total of the 8 scores is added to make your team score. Highest team score gets the #1 Getaway Games Ranking. Ties are broken by taking the teams best score from one round.

Bags Sure Toss: All 4 players toss 3 rounds of 12 bags. A round consists of 4 bags from 3 different tiers. Each tier is worth increasingly more for one on the board and one in the hole. The total of the 12 scores is added to make your team score. Highest team score gets the #1 Getaway Games Ranking. Ties are broken by taking the teams best score from one round.

Golf Scramble: The lowest team scramble score will get the #1 Getaway Games ranking. Ties are broken by scores on the toughest course handicapped hole.

Texas Hold'em Tournament: Each player will be assigned a ranking based on the time they went out of the tournament. All four players rankings on your team will be added up. The lowest total team ranking will get the #1 Getaway Games ranking.
