General Rules
|
Teams will be made up of four (4) members. Each member must be at least 18 yrs of age. Roster changes (substitutions) can only be made up until the morning of the Getaway Games event. Teams of three (3) players are allowed to compete; however, the fourth position will not be used and will take last or a loss of turn in each event, where it applies.
Games/Rounds will begin no later than five (5) minutes after their official scheduled start. If a team is more than five (5) minutes late, they will forfeit that game/round. The official Getaway Games clock will be used for all game times and will be located with the director/facilitator.
Extensive trash talking will not be tolerated. A player will get one (1) warning. On a players 2nd offense, he/she will be asked to leave the competition without refund, and the team will play a player short for the remainder of the tournament. The team will forfeit that position in all competitions that remain. This will act as the last warning for his team. If any player on that players team continues to use extensive trash talking, the team will be asked to leave the entire event, with no refund. Fighting is absolutely not tolerated. If punches were exchanged, whoever threw a punch will be ejected from the event (with no refund) immediately.
In case of inclimate weather preventing the softball HR Derby from taking place or finishing, the Derby will be replaced with nothing. If every team does not finish the HR Derby due to weather - the final standings will only use the totals from the other 4 events. We will play the golf scramble in almost any weather. BUT, in case of inclimate weather preventing the golf tournament from taking place or finishing, the golf will be cancelled and replaced with nothing; the course rules regarding refund/policy will be the Getaway Games stance on this as well. The final standings will only use the totals from the other 4 events.
If a tie occurs for the overall team rankings, we take the best TEAM ranking in ANY sport. If they both tie, we take the 2nd best TEAM ranking. If they tie all the way through - they tie.
If a tie occurs for the overall individual rankings, we take the best INDIVIDUAL ranking in ANY sport. If they both tie, we take the 2nd best INDIVIDUAL. If they tie all the way through - they tie.

Texas Hold'em Tournament Rules
|
GENERAL
Each player in the tournament shall get $1000 in chips. These chips have their associated $ value on them. There are no rebuys or add-ons. Below are the values of chips:
15 qty. - $5 Reds = $75
9 qty. - $25 Greens = $225

5 qty. - $100 Blacks = $500
The player at seat one at each table is always the first dealer.
SCORING/RANKINGS
Each individual will end up with a ranking in the tournament. The ranking is based on what time you went out of the tournament. The team ranking will then consist of the total of your individual rankings. The lowest total team ranking is the winning team. Team tiebreakers are decided by the teams best individual performer. Continued ties are determined by 2-4 player rankings. When a player gets eliminated it is the tables responsibility to notify an Event Facilitator immediately so they can mark down the exact time the player went out and who knocked them out.
LATE PLAYERS
Any player not in attendance at the start of the hold'em tournament will be eliminated from play and his chips will be removed from the table.
TIMER USE AND BREAKS
When the blinds timer expires, it shall be immediately restarted. The next hand will be dealt at the new blind level. For the purpose of this rule, a hand is considered currently in play once the all blinds/antes are posted AND the dealer has begun shuffling (riffles the deck). Breaks will be at the discretion of the Event Director. The timer is stopped during breaks and during any disputes that occur which require attention from the event director to resolve. No additional hands at any table should be started during such a break although hands already in progress should be completed.

Getaway Games reserves the right to slightly modify the blind structure during play to ensure time frames are met. A raise must be at minimum the size of the current big blind.
SEATING/MOVING/COMBINING
Each table will seat a maximum of 8 players. Players will be distributed as evenly as possible between all tables and randomly assigned their starting seat. Players from the same team will not start at the same table. Players will be moved and tables will be combined 100% by the Tournament Director software algorithm. It's the same for every team/player and sometimes you might get forced into an extra blind but sometimes you might get lucky and miss out on a blind. The Tournament Director software chooses the optimal table layout and moves players to keep the maximum number of players as possible at each table, with two biases: 1) When a table is collapsed, the algorithm will choose the lowest numbered table from the set of tables that are eligible for collapse. This makes the movement tend to be toward the lower-numbered tables, and, hopefully, end up at table 1. 2) Each player's movements are counted, and the algorithm will, when given a choice, always move a player who has moved fewer times before moving a player that has moved more times.
DEAD BUTTON RULE
If the big blind busts out and is not replaced by a player from another table, the button moves to the player who posted the small blind and the player to the left of the former big blind assumes the big blind. There is no small blind for that hand. On the following deal, the button moves to the now empty seat (the seat vacated by the eliminated big blind player) and the two players to the left post the normal blinds. This will result in the same player being the dealer two hands in a row.
When the small blind busts out and is not replaced by a player from another table, the button does not move. The player who was the big blind will now post the small blind and the player to his left will post the big blind. This will result in the same player being the dealer two hands in a row.
THE EVENT DIRECTOR
The Event Director is responsible for any disputes and rules interpretations and will have final authority. We realize not every single Texas Hold'em rule and scenario is discussed in these rules. Standard tournament rules apply and when there is a question - the Event Director has the final answer.
TEAMS The team that gets the lowest total ranking (adding up all four player ranks) is declared the winner.Tiebreaker I is the lowest top individual RANKING from the tied teams. Continue on to the 2nd through 4th individual rankings if needed. If every player has tied; then the teams will tie and share the rank.
INDIVIDUALS There are no individual ties because if two people go all-in, the FIRST person to go all-in will be eliminated first by our rules.
