Gamer Spotlight
Today's gamer spotlight is for Jason Jenkins of Submerged in Winning Juice. Jason is the top gamer bowler to date bowling a 448 (2 game series) in the Champaign event and a record setting 546 in the Bloomington/Normal event last year. He is back for Pekin 2008 - any chance of a 300 game?!?!

Pekin Event Deadlines
The 2008 Pekin event is just over 2 weeks away. This event is starting to build a lot of excitement. It has a nice mix of repeat teams, repeat gamers, and fresh new teams. Rumor has it that some very notable, former Division I local athletes are putting together a killer team. Will they be in it to win it? You won't want to miss this one. For you that don't necessarily need to "compete" - we've added several average joe prizes this year that will satisfy your award thirst.
The entry deadline is as follows:
with tshirt - Wednesday, May 21
no guaranteed tshirt - Wednesday, May 28
If you don't have your entire roster ready, that's ok. Sign up with just a captain info today! Captains - get your team signed up today and finalize your roster later!
Rules, Changes, and more
Live Scoring is available!!!
Rules: The rules have stayed pretty much the same from the 2007 game rules. For those of you not familiar with them, be sure to check out our "Rules" page, FAQ page, and "Scoring" page to be up to speed on how things work. For you Pekin Gamers, we did modify some of the softball rules (more tiers now) and the tiebreaker rules (see below) since your event last year. If you have any questions - just ask.
Weather policy: We state our weather policy very clearly in the rules and such. But it's a fact of life - one of these events at some point will have some bad weather. Bowling, Sure Shot and Hold'em continue on as normal. In case of inclimate weather preventing the softball HR Derby from taking place or finishing, the Derby will be replaced with nothing. If every team does not finish the HR Derby due to weather - the final standings will only use the totals from the other 4 events. We will play the golf scramble in almost any weather. BUT, in case of inclimate weather preventing the golf tournament from taking place or finishing, the golf will be cancelled and replaced with nothing; the course rules regarding refund/policy will be the Getaway Games stance on this as well. The final standings will only use the totals from the other 4 events.
Live Scoring: Live scoring at getawaygames.net is available for each and every event. You friends, family or anyone can check up all day and see how you bowled or shot along with see how your team is fairing. In the near future we will work on getting some live video feeds from the event streaming online.
Oswego 2008 Fundraiser
A week from Saturday
 The Oswego, IL event and Oswego East Boys Basketball fundraiser is a week from Saturday. This event is going to be a blast. Teams are ready to go, staff is pumped up for the 2008 season, and a portion of the proceeds goes to help out the Oswego East Boys Basketball program. You are NOT too late to sign up. We ordered extra tshirts so that is not a problem. If you want in - register NOW. Final deadline is Wednesday, May 21st.
So who are the early favorites to win this thing? The former Oswego athletes? Baseball coaches? Coach Buckley himself? Don't miss this once a year event! For you gamers already in the event - tell your friends and family that Live Scoring is available throughout the event at getawaygames.net!
