After a ton of feedback and consulting, Getaway Games is making a positive change right up front! Instead of holding Getaway Games over a 2 day weekend; we are having the entire event in 1 DAY! Initial feedback suggested that getting their team commitment to an entire weekend was just 'too hard' these days. Going to a one day format makes it much easier for you to just getaway for a day! Here are some benefits:
- Easier to get a team!!! This is the biggie. Think about how much easier it is for you to get out of the house for 1 day?
- Less downtime at the event. You will be busy from morning 'til dark in our 1 Day format!
- Cost is lower for you. No hotel needed, no 2nd day of travel needed, no 2nd day of food needed, no conflict with the wife/kids because you are gone a 2nd day :)
- Event ends with the Texas Hold'em Tournament. That will be an exciting finally!
The other positive change we made was replacing Basketball 3 on 3 with a Basketball Shooting Stars contest. This had to be done to fit into a 1 day schedule. How is that positive you might ask?
- Shooting Stars is UNIQUE! 3 on 3's are everywhere - but how many Shooting Stars skills competitions have you competed in? This will be similar to the NBA All-Star game Shooting Stars competition!
- Less downtime for teams. With a full 3 on 3 tournament there is a lot of 'sitting around'. Shooting Stars is fast paced, exciting and competitive all at the same time. Even when you aren't shooting - you'll love watching the other teams scramble around and hit jumpers from all over the court.
- Fewer injuries and disputes. Where there is 3 on 3 basketball there is controversy. Changing this to a basketball skills contest should eliminate any of that from our first class Getaway Games.
So where do we go from here?
- If you already have registered a team in one of the Getaway Games events - be sure you still want to compete with these changes! If not - we will not hesitate giving you a full refund! Just contact us at (800) 662-7507 or by email.
- If you have not signed up for an event yet, now is the time! We have extended the early registration deadline to April 1st for the Peoria Event so you can still save $100 on your team entry. Get your teammates and book that 1 DAY for some Getaway Games fun!!!!!!!!!!! Give it a chance - you won't regret it.
Anyone over the age of 21 is invited to play. We expect some of the top 'Getaway Gamers' to be over the age of 40! Woman are encouraged to jump on a team as well!!!

Getaway Gamer Tip
Bowling Tip: Bowling will be first thing in the morning at your event. Your team will be able to begin 'warming up' after you register and get to your lane. If you need some extra warm-up time - get to the facility earlier than the competition and bowl a few extra frames!
