Getaway Games™ is the perfect event for the everyday sports fan. Thought of as the 'Average Joe Pentathlon'; Getaway Games combines basketball, golf, softball, bowling and poker into one action packed day. Your one day event will consist of up to 36 teams of 4 players. The event will start off bright and early in the morning with a bowling match. From there, you go straight to the basketball Sure Shot competition and a softball home run derby lasting until noon. Now grab a quick bite to eat and take your team to the links for a top-notch full 18 hole golf scramble. Exhausted yet? No time for that! It's time to get your mental game together, enjoy a few drinks, and play a Texas Hold'em tournament that evening. We'll cap the night off with tons of prizes and awards. This is honestly every sports fans dream day.
Competition
Getaway Games is all about competition. Every sports fan has some sort of competitive drive. You will be competing against other teams and players all day. You will experience individual competition such as head to head Texas Hold'em and team competition such as basketball Sure Shot. All we can say is be ready to compete!Fun
Ok, so maybe not every team in Getaway Games cares to win the event. Then just have fun! Getaway Games is a blast. Knock around a few long balls, sip down a few drinks, play loose at the poker table, hack away at the golf ball. Whatever you do - just enjoy your one day away! You might not think of the Getaway Games as being strategic. But think again. How do you form your team? Do you stack it with great athletes that can shoot hoops but can't golf? Do you try to excel in a couple sports and just hang on in the others? Or do you balance your team and just try to be respectable in everything? Rarely do we find a team that dominates all five sports. If you can put together that type of team, you will undoubtedly be placed in the Getaway Games Hall of Fame! Think strategy at the Hold'em table too. Does it pay to hang on as long as you can? Or do you go for gold right away? Getaway Games provides you plenty of opportunity to exercise strategy.Teamwork
This is the ultimate team sports event. From forming your team, to competing together, to strategizing together, to just hanging out and having a drink. You will have a blast with your team. And you'll find that the best teams work consistently as a team, all day long.
Skills
We can talk about strategy and teamwork 'til we are blue in the face, but when it comes down to it - do you have the skills? You'll find some amazing talent in every Getaway Games event. Some former basketball players; Semi-pro golfers; No fear Texas Hold'em players; 200+ average bowlers; Former minor league baseball players. One thing is for sure, bring your 'A' game when you come to the Getaway Games.Prizes
Honestly, if you are coming to play in the Getaway Games it is most likely NOT about the prizes. Most play to have fun and enjoy a day of sports. But, our events will not lack in prizes. The winning team will walk away with the coveted Getaway Games Trophy (huge). We want to make this a special event all around.Bragging Rights
If you can win the Getaway Games in your city - what does that say about your team? Well, it says you are the most well rounded sports team in the area! How's that for bragging rights? It won't be long and Getaway Games will be a National name. We're looking for the top teams in every city Nationwide to compete in a National Getaway Games event in the near future! Do you have what it takes?
Class and Sportsmanship
Getaway Games prides itself on being a first class organization. Your event will be run very well. We will not put up with any fighting, excessive trash talking, etc. Sportsmanship will be encouraged and rewarded throughout our games. We know that the key to getting repeat teams is to run a classy event - and that is exactly what we will do.If any of these are you - get your team of four and find a Getaway Games event in your area right away. It's only a one day committment and trust me, you won't regret it. If you have a city that you feel would be perfect to hold a Getaway Games event, just fill out the City Request Form. Have others in your city request the same city. The more votes we get for a city, the better chance we can accommodate you.
